Discover four major signs it's time to change plan management provider - and how you can make the switch to an NDIS plan manager suited to your needs.

Why Providers Love Working with NDSP Plan Managers
Key Information for NDIS Providers:
- We have a typical payment timeframe of 3–5 business days, including NDSP review and NDIS processing.
- NDSP’s invoice compliance checks help identify errors early and reduce delays.
- NDSP offers direct contact points for providers and Support Coordinators, i.e. territory or state-based Community Engagement Managers.
- You and your clients have access to our free, practical NDIS resources, such as invoice templates and up-to-date pricing information.
NDIS providers often have similar challenges: delayed payments, admin overload, unclear processes when working with other providers.
If your client is plan managed, it can be frustrating to feel like there’s another ‘layer’ to get through before invoices are paid out. But if you work with a plan manager that understands provider realities, the process can be smoothed out – meaning you can spend less time chasing invoices, and more time with clients.
NDSP is a trusted and experienced plan manager, working with NDIS participants and providers to help things run smoothly. We ensure your invoices are compliant with NDIS guidelines, and that payment for approved invoices is released to you ASAP.
NDSP ensures prompt payment for NDIS providers
Your payment will typically land in your bank account 3-5 business days after it has been submitted to NDSP. There are three main parts to our provider payment process:
1. Internal NDSP checks (0-3 working days)
We review the invoice you submit to ensure it is correct and compliant with NDIS guidelines in terms of pricing, what your client’s NDIS plan will fund, and that all the relevant information is there (e.g. client name and NDIS number, your ABN, correct codes for support items).
It’s easier to fix things at this stage than to have to deal directly with the NDIS to resolve an invoice issue. That’s why we run all invoices through an automatic checking process, and if any issues are detected the invoice is then checked over manually by a team member. This can take up to 3 days – though we’re pleased to say that over half of our invoices are processed in the same day they’re submitted.
2. NDIS processing (2-3 working days)
Once the invoice has been submitted to the NDIS, it’s out of our hands in terms of timelines and approvals. They aim to have all invoices processed within 2-3 business days, though this may take longer during busy periods.
3. Payment is released
Once the NDIS approves your invoice, you can expect your payment to land in your nominated bank account within 1-2 working days. The timing for this can differ depending on who you bank with, and when your payment is released. Banks will typically only process payments during working hours, so weekends and public holidays can have an impact.
For example: if your approved funds are sent on a Friday night, they may not appear in your account until Monday morning.
Note: You can track the progress of your invoice with the NDSP Invoice Tracker. This gives you a general view of where your submitted invoice is at. You can also contact our team directly to query. Remember – while we’ll always help where we can, invoices that have been sent to the NDIS are outside our control.
We help Support Coordinators
Plan management and support coordination often work hand-in-hand to allow the best possible outcomes for NDIS participants, though the roles and their responsibilities differ. Because of this, we work to create meaningful relationships with support coordination providers – ensuring everyone gets the support they need.
Our Community Engagement Managers in each state and territory give Support Coordinators a direct point of contact for queries or escalations. Having this direct contact means we can provide the plan management assistance and expertise you, and your NDIS clients, need.
This clear communication means less back and forth for Support Coordinators, and more time working on participant outcomes – which is better for everyone involved!
